The Honey Bee Garden, established in 1994, has been developed and maintained by the Ohio State University Extension Honey Bee Lab and the Tri-County Beekeepers' Association. The garden design was created by beekeepers with strong horticultural backgrounds. Volunteers maintain the garden when needed. Plants in the garden have been selected for their attractiveness to honey bees and other pollinating insects, as well as for their appeal as garden plants. Local greenhouses and individuals have donated plant material and labor to make this garden a reality. Visitors can view plants in their mature form, and may observe the activities of a variety of pollinators. The Honey Bee Plant Garden is an interesting stop for any beekeeper or gardener wishing to get ideas for a garden at home. This 4,000 square foot garden currently has about 80 species of plants. The garden is located next to the Ohio State University Extension Honey Bee Lab on the OSU Wooster campus, and is open to the public between dawn and dusk daily.
The Honey Bee Garden is a successful stop for any beekeeper or gardener wanting to get ideas for a garden at home.
